What did I just read? :D
Well, I just accidentally watched the drama. It was 4 episodes since it was an ongoing drama. Everyone in the commen said omething about the manhwa/ webtoon. So, there I was, glueing myself in the webtoon, something that's quite rare for me to do. I might yearn for more BL Japanese drama or manga. However, some of them are still upcoming or ongoing with once update in a week. No wonder, I took everything I got including this Korean BL drama.
Oh, I just finished watching one Korean BL drama that I complained a lot since the storyline and the acting of the actors suck. But, this one, I found that the uke :D did a very great job as a debut. So, that's why I read all the chapters in webtoon and try to compare the story and the characters between the webtoon and the drama.
Summary (from m.toto)
Reincarnated a 4th time after accidentally naming a child of god, which is a sin, then falling in love with them, Min Yu Tan does not remember his 1st life & failing his 2nd & 3rd life of capturing the person he loves. Will he be able to succeed in his 4th life now that the person he loves is now a man?
Reading the summary, I think it's quite similar to the drama. Yet, the characters are a bit far cry from the webtoon.
After working for about 3 months, Dongbaek Sol was confessed by his director, asking him to date him. He said that if they don't date, they would die. Puzzled by his director's confession, Dongbaek tried to escape from him. But what could he do as an employee? At first, the director gave him a lot of tasks that he barely breathed, then he confessed to him, inviting to dinner. What could be his intention? Did he really intend to date Dongbaek now that he's a man?
In some following chapters, Dongbaek tried his best to convince his director that they're impossible to date. Before, he kept asking himself whether or not he would be fired if he refused his director's intention. But the dinner took place every day after office hours. Dongbaek in webtoon seems to be more courageous to refuse the dating idea. He's more persistent that turned out to be a bit annoying for us the readers. Meanwhile, the director looked persistent asking him out. In the drama, Dongbaek was a perfect uke that he couldn't say no to his boss. Aside from his rejection, he had a soft spot to his director, especially when he accidentally put the director into an accident. So many sweet scenes that you could get a toothache :D
The director? Well.... From the illustration, he looked like someone intimidating with his gorgeous look and towering figure. Not to mention his repeated request to date him to Dongbaek. One thing that I thought it would be impossible to put in the drama was how easy and quick he got horny only by looking at Dongbaek's chest, lips and voice. LOL. I know that Korean BL is not as open as Thai BL. Gay relationship is not something to be announced publicly. While in the drama, the director didn't really look in love with Dongbaek. His sraight face was good as a director but not as someone in love. Both Dongdaek and the director occasionally blushed when they accidentally or intentinally touched each other.
The webtoon seemed to highlight their relationship starting from approaching to dating. There's no much talk about curse from God as much as in the drama. The special effect on the blinking light showed something related to their past. The curses grunted by the director towards Gods showed that how unexpected the reality was. Never had he imagined that the person he longed for for 300 years turned out to be a man. The webtoon had a few chapters flashing back 300 years ago when the director first met Dongbaek and carelessly gave him a name. (I don't know much about God thing in Korea, so I found it a bit strange to know that the God was angry and gave them curse because of that).
Dennis, one of the prospective talent from Min entertainment showed up in the first episode of the drama. Meanwhile, Dennis finally was exposed in webtoon in the middle of the whole chapters. I thought, the story only highlighted the romance between the boss and his subordinate. But as soon as Dennis showed up, he seemed to be the rival of their relationship. Did Dennis aim for the director or his beloved one?
The webtoon has rated 18+ and tagged as boys love/ shonen ai. I first assumed that there would be some vulgar scenes between the two. Yes, there were some steamy scenes but it can't be compared with the BL manga I read previously, 10 Counts. The flashback 300 years ago was discussed in few chapters. I got a bit confused with the people in there and wonder which one is which. LOL. Thanks to comment section for giving me some understanding about what is happening. The flashback in the drama would be in episode 7 or more (it's coming next week). The director's feeling was finally reciprocated by Dongbaek after some chaotic rush in the office. Dongbaek in the drama finally opend his heart in episode 6 by asking the director to hug him. Awwww..... But I guess it's too rush. I didn't think he's already in love with the director. Was it to confirm his own feeling? Perhaps.
The story has a happy ending in webtoon. And I'm sure so does the drama. But it was too quick to end after so many things happened. I assume that the drama would do the same thing since it only has 15-19 minutes in each episode. Which one I like better? The drama for sure. It has the element of lively and busy Min Entertainment unlike the webtoon version. The characters of both Director and Dongbaek were better in the drama. Dennis, the third wheel, wasn't much involved both in the drama and the webtoon. But he's the character who apparently present both in their past and present played an important role.
